Diva Callenge #120

I bought some new paints last weekend, so have been itching to use them! When the Diva Challenge came to let rip with Bales tangle, I did! I enjoyed doing the linework with the paintbrush, though for the very fine I used a fineliner. I had fun doing Bales with straight lines, made it quite different. When finished I wasn't very keen on the result, so did a greyscale scan, which needs some white somewhere. Anyway, here are my contributions.

Zendala Dare #59

Really enjoyed this Dare! So  much so that I did two!! I did the coloured one first, using .055 pen, as I love a fine pen and colour. However thought I'd just do B + W for second one. I think I enjoyed this one even more as I was 'warmed up' for it.

Tangles: Camelia, Nipa, Vortex, Tipple, Ving.

Tangles: Diva Dance, Umble, Black Pearls.

Diva Challenge #119

My deepest sympathies go to those in Oklahoma who have lost so much. It's hard to imagine here in Australia the devastation and trauma of tornados. We have floods and bushfires but not on the scale that you have tornados, which totally wipe out everything in their path. I pray that you will have courage to face the long road ahead of recovery and restoration. It wont happen overnight, but it will happen.

Diva's challenge this week is "Ebony and Ivory", so the major art principle to feature is contrast. I thought I'd like to do a round one, so picked up this weeks Zendala Dare template for it. Unfortunately I also had problems with the white pen, it went a sort of yellow!! So I gave up on that, pulled out a tile, drew a string and went for it.
My unfinished first attempt.

Tangles: Knase, Bowties, Bunzo, BTL Joos, Clothesline.

Zendala Dare #58

When it's zendala challenge time, I create a page with two small zendala's (90 x 90 mm) and a large one about 160mm square, to fit underneath the two small ones. This way I can use either one to work on, and still have a spare to do at a later date. I print them out onto a lightweight card which I find takes the micron pen quite well. Today I decided to do a small one so I could complete it tonight, so here we are!!

Tangles: Dijon, Drupe, Crescent Moon, Flux, Hypnotic.

Diva Challenge #118

I've had a lovely few days away  in Melbourne, despite the rain and cold weather. the hotel had good facilities so one could be entertained without going anywhere. Best thing was I was able to do four zentangle designs !! I think that's a record for me. proof I was able to relax, that's for sure. The hotel was near Albert Park Lake around which the cars race for the Grand Prix every January.

In the distance a tanker waits in Port Phillip Bay. Center is the Lake and you can just see the road which is the race track.

With facilities like this who needs to go anywhere. Theres also a lap pool.

This was my view of the city from the treadmill! Fascinating watching the traffic and the rain! I did 4k's!

The first tile I made was straightforward, as was the second, but in my ZIA book. I couldnt stop there but kept going and added some colour.

Zendala Dare #57

I had a delightful Mother's Day today out with my daughter Samy. A nice meal in a local restaurant and a two hour chat all on our own..what a treat!!!
My hair could have done witrh some "editing"!! (Just recently cut, may change hairdresser)
Hubby and I are off to Melbourne for a few days this week, so I wanted to do the Dare asap!!
Template 57 is compliments of Genevieve Crabb. Initially I thought it may be difficult with so many small spaces, but once I began it had a mind of it's own. I chose to use red and orange, but the difference is hard to see, but I'm pleased with the result. oops. sorry no zendala.. and guess what, my laptop now wont connect to the internet. I will try to do it with my tablet.well i took the photo, tried to upload from gallery but that didnt work. sorry about that. it will eventually arrive on my blog one day. and another thing, my phone wont access wifi!! Must be some anti wifis in the air!

Diva's Challenge #117

This week we have been asked to create a design using Rick Roerts new tangle "Schwartz". I created the design as a monotangle. As the motif is all straight lines, I made the string all curved!

Zendala Dare #56

An unusual challenge this week from Erin at The Bright Owl in creating our design in her template - render it in PENCIL! My first thought was that as she hadn't stipulated what sort of pencil, I could use coloured pencils. But as I began the work, I found I quite enjoyed working with the lead  (graphite) pencil. It provided a range of tones easily and I liked the contrasts created. Thanks Erin for a fun challenge.

Diva Challenge #116

This week we are to use a blind string. I like these cos you never know what will be there when you open your eyes!

Here's Maxie back this morning to view the birds!

Then comes along Millie!! Funny they have to look out the wire! Bit of a squash. I just LOOOVE their fluffy tails!

Zendala dare #55

Each morning my kitten comes in and sits on the window ledge to gaze at the birds in the tree next door. She's only 6 months old and I'm hoping wont grow a lot bigger. Next thing her twin comes in and joins her. The most hilarious thing is when one tries to pass the other on the sill!! We call them Millie and Maxie, or M and M's!

One of my goals in retirement is to sort out all my zentangle paraphernalia...folders, loose papers, projects, you name it I'll have it somewhere. So today I began! Here's my bedroom AFTER sorting the papers..notice the overflow from my rubbish bin.

I have yet to put stuff in folders, I guess that's for another day, After that good deed I had to go and have a lie down for an hour! But I am so pleased I have begun, its a great feeling.

This week's  Dare is a little different from my normally bright colours. They say "A change is as good as a holiday" Good to vary what we do else we get into a rut.
